BEVA® 371b SOLUTION - The
original BEVA® 371 adhesive was specifically formulated to meet the
requirements of art conservation. Since 1970, it has been the most
widely used adhesive. When one of its components, Laropal K80 (a
ketone polymer), became unavailable in 2008, we chose a similar
ketone-aldehyde polymer to replace it. This new resin, like the
old resin, gives the adhesive strength and elasticity. The
reformulated BEVA® 371b has properties and performance which are
equivalent to the original BEVA® 371 except its color if lightly more
yellow due to the color of the new resin. When used for lining and
applied to the old canvas and the new support the color change is barely
perceptible. As with the original adhesive, the BEVA® 371b is reversible
and can be reactivated with heat or solvent.
